  43.    carefully to find the most recent version as many sites have old versions.

  59.  GETTING STARTED:
  60.  ────────────────
  61.  
  62.    1. Copy 21UP.EXE to a directory which is included in the PATH statement.
  63.    2. Start 21UP. You may start it from a command line or you may create
  64.       a 21UP object on your desktop or in a folder using standard OS/2
  65.       procedures and start it from there.
  66.    3. From the Menu bar select PRINTER - SETTINGS.
  67.    4. Select the appropriate settings for your printer (Printer, Print
  68.       Mode and Paper Size) and then select RETURN.
  69.    5. From the Menu bar select HELP - PRINT HELP.
  70.    6. The documentation will print. Read and follow instructions there.
  71.       NOTE the INITIAL SET UP section, especially if the documentation
  72.       did not print correctly (It should be readable enough to follow).
  73.    7. If you still have problems then DO THE FOLLOWING:
  74.        - Print the 21UPTEST.FIL enclosed with the package.
  75.        - Send me a note with the following information:
  76.           - Which version number you are using (from the main screen).
  77.           - The settings you used that were DIFFERENT from the defaults.
  78.           - A description of the problem.
  79.           - What lines (in the test file) printed in what columns and on
  80.             what pages?
  81.           - What was the first character printed on the last (continued)
  82.             part of the last line (200)?
  83.           - Any other information you feel will help.

  86.  21UP CHANGES:

  91.     1. Added support for 1UP printing in Landscape mode. Good for extra
  92.        long print lines.
  93.     2. Added support for 2UP printing in Portrait mode. Good for real
  94.        short print lines.
  95.     3. Added support for saving the current path and optionally the
  96.        file name when leaving 21UP. This allows you to get back to
  97.        where you last left 21UP and is almost always better than the
  98.        default path.
  99.     4. Added a new menu option under Files called Select List. This
  100.        allows you to select a file which contains a list of files to
  101.        process.
  102.     5. Added a new menu option under Files called Create List. This
  103.        allows you to create a file (21UPFILE.LIS) which contains a list
  104.        of files in the directory selected. This file is also stored in
  105.        that directory. You may then select this file with Select List.
  106.     6. Added the Append Files option to Print Format. This will NOT
  107.        eject to a new page when printing a new file, instead it inserts
  108.        the filename at the start of a new file. This option has the
  109.        potential to save a lot of paper when printing many short files.
  110.     7. Added a progress bar just below the menu to track the processing
  111.        progress by file.
  112.     8. Significant performance improvements have been made to file
  113.        processing. Most noticable with larger files.
  114.     9. Changed the following for duplex printing:
  115.        a. - If only 1 page is printed then no prompt is displayed to
  116.             reinsert the paper.
  117.        b. - If an odd number of total pages are printed then 21UP will
  118.             eject the last page at the end of pass 2.
  119.    10. The Help/Documentation has not only been changed to reflect
  120.        the above additions but has been extensively revised to clarify
  121.        meanings. In addition, some limited examples of command line
  122.        invokation have been added.

  124.   V7.1 SPECIAL NOTE:

  127.     THE PROFILE FORMAT HAS CHANGED! If you are a new user or do NOT have
  128.     any saved profiles then you do NOT have to do anything. If you are
  129.     MIGRATING from a previous version WITH saved profiles AND you have a
  130.     user defined printer name in the profile then:
  131.  
  132.     - Edit your profile(s) and INSERT 000 AFTER position 27 in the profile.
  133.     - Save the profile.
  134.  
  135.     otherwise you do not have to do anything.
  136.  
  137.     To help ensure that this will not happen again (at least for a while)
  138.     I have added a Reserved field to the profile layout.

  150.        page number (useful when printing selected lines).
  151.     4. Added VERY LIMITED support for generic 132 and 80 column non-laser
  152.        printers. Not all options will work (no landscape printing).

  157.        of line length wrapping at the end of a line. It is now the default.

  193.        There are NO changes to the default profile naming convention
  194.        or initial loading.
  195.        New profiles are recommended to have a file extension of .21P.
  196.        Additional profiles will allow you to have several settings saved
  197.        for the same or different printers.
  198.     2. Added a command line option of -Pprofilespec to specify the profile
  199.        to be used.
  200.     3. Added support for Multiple File Selection
  201.         - Up to 10 filenames may be passed on the command line.
  202.         - A count of the number of files that have been selected has
  203.           been added to the Main Menu.
  204.         - You may select multiple files from multiple directories
  205.           before you print. They will all be printed with the same
  206.           print specifications.
  207.     4. The -M and -P options (if specified) must now be the FIRST
  208.        options.
  209.     5. Added option: 'From file' to the Header Format section to use
  210.        the date and/or time from the file instead of the current date
  211.        and/or time.
  212.     6. Removed the highlighting on Radio buttons and Check boxes to
  213.        conform to the accepted practice of displaying them.
  214.     7. Changed the look of 21UP to give a 'cleaner' feel.
  215.     8. Removed the requirement for the VPBEVEL.DLL and VPOBJ.DLL files.
  216.        If you only used them for prior versions of 21UP then you may
  217.        delete them.
